Phew, the Final Chapter - Intersession 422C

Is this really the end? There is just something not right about having to have a Fall 08 class two days before the beginning of Spring 09. . .

The good news is that we should be able to finish over 3/4th of the content needed to
complete 422C by the end of class tomorrow. There are only 4 assignments. . .but two of them count for 75% of your grade.

We will be scanning, re-taking the EdTechProfile, making a movie, and writing the narratives for TPE 14 in TaskStream.

For Saturday:
it would be a great idea to bring headphones for the video editing

Introduction to TaskStream

This assignment is designed to ensure you can navigate TaskStream, add artifacts, know where to place your narratives, and request feedback.

Objective: Create a Microsoft Word document that includes the NETS standards for teachers and students. Add the performance indicators for the grade range you would like to teach. Upload to TaskStream, name, describe, and request feedback.
Instructions

Copy and paste the NETS standards for teachers and students, as well as the performance indicators for the grade range you wish to teach on your Word document.
The Word document will be posted on Taskstream (as an attachment under TPE 14) and feedback from the instructor will be requested.

Time permitting, you will also become familiar with the narrative writing structure for Taskstream.

Note: When you begin to write your narratives, give each NETS a separate topic heading and each standard a separate line to ensure teacher (me) can clearly distinguish each standard.

Welcome to Ed 422B . . .The Intersession

Okay, so while most people are out drinking spiked eggnog, we will be playing on computers in a computer lab, on a deserted college campus. . .However, this should be a fairly painless way to meet your College of Education prerequisites ;-)

This course has a shorted in-class time frame for some reason. We will meet from 6pm to 8:50 pm on Friday and from 9 am to 3 pm on Saturday. I will do my best to get everything introduced to you so that you can feel confident completing the assignments while at home.

TaskStream:
This is an important order of business to take care of early on Friday. Click on the link to TaskStream on the right and purchase a student subscription, which should cost $25 for the semester. You will have the option to buy a longer subscription will will of course be cheaper (the Costco effect), but not everyone has an excess of cash right now.
When you purchase your subscription, please enter the following codes:

TPA: JF5BNH

Yes, you will need to enroll in both!!

I am hoping that those who took 422A with Russ Bird will have a blog already created. I will need the url (web address) so I can post it to our class blog roll on this blog. Please get this to me as soon as possible.

iMovie Software Proficiency Tutorial

Journal 7

Web 2.0

Don't forget to follow the instructions from webCT:

I would like you to pick a TOOL from the Classroom 2.0 website (see link on blog), choose a link from the tools (not content area) list on the right hand column for a technology that interests you, and follow a discussion or two that relates to your technology. In the title bar, put journal title followed by the technology you have chosen. (For example: Journal 7: Microblogging). In the journal, I would like you to define the technology and then report out on what you learned from the tool discussion (follow at least one-two threaded discussions) and read and comment on at least three peers who have chosen a different tool. You reporting out should contain the 200-250 word minimum, but you do not need to ask and answer questions. In the assignments section, you will submit your peers names.

For Submission: you will only have to submit your tool (e.g. microblogging) and the peers whose blogs you commented on with their tool (john - collaborative documents). You can simply type the names into the html creator!

Journal 6

Here is where you can post your Inspiration picture/jpeg and software review. It is also where you will post your review of iMovie.

Each software review will have its own post, Inspiration will be Journal 6A and iMovie will be Journal 6B. Include the artifact (Inspiration jpg and iMovie) in the post. Answer the questions in detail for each piece of software!

Click here to enter your trial code for Atomic Learning

Remember to answer the following questions (answer all 3 questions for both Inspiration and iMovie):

Discuss:

1. how you liked the program (ease of use of program for you, how you think students would like it, etc.). Discuss the interface of the software, the ability to navigate through the program and the cost, if available for either the program or one like it.

2. how you could incorporate this software in your classroom (what projects could you see your students complete, etc.), and

3. how you liked learning via Atomic Learning (or the concept of video self-tutorial in general). Answer this only if you used Atomic Learning for either program!! If you did not use it for Inspiration, explain how you learned the program and/or learn technology software in general.
